Rights & Permissions: Classroom
Classroom or Course Packet Photocopying Permissions:

All academic photocopying permission requests are processed by the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), Inc., regardless of what titles may be shown on their website as being "available" or "special order" titles. CCC will contact SUNY Press for approval on your behalf for all requests. Please allow up to 2 weeks for the Press to clear the rights and respond to CCC. Please see below for separate instructions on how to request permission to place material on library print reserve or to photocopy an entire text.

Photocopying requests should be sent to:

Rightsholder Customer Relations
Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), Inc.
222 Rosewood Drive
Danvers, MA 01923

phone: 978-750-8400
fax: 978-646-8600

Library Print Reserve or Photocopying of an Entire Text Permissions:

These requests should be placed with SUNY Press directly. Please mail or fax your request on university stationery (requests sent via e-mail are not guaranteed to be expedited and may be delayed until receipt of a faxed or mailed copy). Permissions will be granted on a per semester basis for a minimum fee of $40. The following information is necessary in order to process your request:

Information Regarding the SUNY Press Material:

  • Complete SUNY Press title and author information—the volume editor's name, in addition to the contributor's name of the chapter you are photocopying, should be given when appropriate.
  • Specific chapter number/s and page number/s of the requested material—enclose a copy of the material as it appears in the SUNY Press book if a combination of short excerpts instead of full pages is being used.

Information Regarding Your Request:

  • Instructor's name
  • Instructor's university affiliation
  • Course number/title
  • Anticipated enrollment or number of copies needed
  • Course start date (indicate multiple semester usage if appropriate)

Note: If you wish to photocopy an entire book or over 30% of a book that is temporarily out-of-stock and you have placed a book order, indicate the order number. If you have not placed an order for an out-of-stock book, please do so. If the anticipated delivery date (please state the date) does not meet your needs, please indicate as such and we can still accommodate your request.
